The space of the Athens Conservatory is incubating an atmospheric Hotel Universe. The Hotel Experience exhibition transcends the conventions of industry trade shows and creates environments where the possibilities of material applications activate all the senses.
In the Hotel Experience exhibition, materials are presented through the allegory of the hotel, beyond the conventional branded context: Stage constructions, cinematic references, and lighting, in collaboration with the multi-talented architect and set designer Eva Manidaki from Flux Office, elevate the presence of the exhibitor and the visitor to an unexpected environment. At the same time, conference events and workshops form a core of knowledge exchange and networking among top market professionals.
This year’s Hotel Experience exhibition is inspired by hotel atmospheres encountered in iconic films such as Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” (1980), Wong Kar-wai’s “In the Mood for Love” (2000), and Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (2014).

A multisensory experience as the exhibition visitor transforms into a hotel guest.

Elegance
The main goal of the architecture and spatial organization is to create a multisensory experience as the exhibition visitor transforms into a hotel guest. There, they are invited to explore an attractive and mysterious hospitality space.
Thus, the exhibition design stages the visitor’s encounter with a different world, condensing the spectacle of cinematic aesthetics. The commercial booths transform into hotel rooms, while the other exhibition areas reference characteristic points of hospitality spaces such as Reception, Foyer, Pool, and Elevator, evoking an atmospheric hotel with cinephile references.
The starting point of the exhibition is the Reception, the visitors’ welcome area, with a corresponding cinematic reference that immediately introduces them to the delicate atmosphere of the hotel.
The Reception, along with the two staircases flanking it, connects to the large lounge, where the main part of the booths is located.
The large lounge of the foyer constitutes the central space of the exhibition, serving as a meeting point and seating area. On either side of the extended corridor of the foyer, which is covered with carpet reminiscent of Kubrick’s classic film “The Shining,” hotel room-like booths are distributed. The integration of neon signs, often found at the entrances of hotels, creates visual horizons and intensifies the theatrical atmosphere of the space.
The exhibition route continues through the central foyer to area B (Black Box), where the visitor is invited to explore the interior of the remaining rooms – booths.
